| Flush Access Door Sometimes installing flush access doors is permitted as the easiest and most efficient way to repair internal structures or certain skin areas. Notice in Figure 2-6 that the installation consists of a doubler and a stressed-access cover plate. Nut plates, in a single row, are riveted to the doubler; and the doubler is then riveted to the skin with two rows of rivets, staggered, as shown in Figure 2-6. The cover plate is attached to the nut plates on the doubler with machine screws to permit easy plate removal.
